What’s Up With Us?

We are a bunch of people who really like to find out about the who, what, and where of history. When we see someting we are interested in; a town, a story, a person, a trail or whatever, we dig into it, follow the history, and explore the places that it take us.

Now, while we are are all about history, we also are all about having a good time. Hey, YOLO right? So, we like to give it our own twist while seeing what the places we visit have to offer and then share it with the rest of the world in hopes that we help people get off the couch and do some of their own exploring… Gripsack Guides.

Oh, you might wonder about the Gripsack thing. Well, there is an old book, Crofutt’s Grip-Sack Guide to Colorado which described rail trips and towns around the relatively new state of Colorado in the 1880’s. All you needed were some tickets and a bag to put your travel gear into … a Grip Sack. Seemed like a cool thing to borrow from, in both name and spirit, but we added a little “what happened here” and, hopefully, some humor into our adventures.
